I designed this chibi-style Anubis statue to bring his protective, grounding energy to your desk, bookshelf, or small altar. He’s accompanied by his classic symbols—the royal crook and flail, and his traditional nemes headdress—but in a cute, stylized format that I absolutely love.
Whether you’re exploring shadow work, honoring the ancestors, or just want a daily reminder that you are guided and protected through life’s transitions, I made this little statue to be a perfect, compact companion.
Why “Chibi”?
If you aren’t familiar with the term, “chibi” is a Japanese art style that exaggerates proportions to make characters look small and cute (think big expressive eyes and stubby little bodies). I’m a huge fan of this aesthetic, and blending this adorable anime-inspired style with the heavy, mysterious themes of a guardian of the underworld like Anubis was such a fun challenge for me. It creates a really unique contrast that fits perfectly into modern pagan or Kemetic decor.
My Take on Anubis & His Symbols
To me, Anubis represents ultimate protection and a safe guide through the unknown. In the ancient myths, he is the guardian of the scales and the guide of souls, ensuring balance and truth. I wanted this piece to honor that steadfast, watchful energy.
I made sure to include his crossed crook and flail, which historically symbolize authority, guidance, and the balance of discipline and provision. His large, attentive ears are perked up, ready to listen. Bringing all these intense, sacred elements into a chunky, cute design is my way of showing that our guardians and guides don’t always have to look frightening to be powerful.
How I Make Them:
I 3D print each of these statues right in my workspace using a beautiful, speckled PLA, which is a tough, plant-based bioplastic (derived from cornstarch). The unique speckled finish gives it the warm, earthy look of carved terracotta or stone. Because of how the 3D printing process works layer-by-layer, each statue has a very subtle, unique surface texture—no two are exactly alike.
A quick note on the design: I specifically designed him sitting cross-legged with his tools tucked in close to his chest. Not only does this fit the cute chibi aesthetic perfectly, but it also makes the statue incredibly solid and stable on your shelf. There are no fragile, floating little pieces that are going to snap off when you handle him!
Care Instructions:
Keep him indoors: PLA plastic can warp if it gets hotter than 120°F (50°C), so please don’t leave him out in the hot summer sun or in a hot car.
Cleaning: Just dust him gently with a soft brush or microfiber cloth. If he needs a wipe down, use a barely damp cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners.
I hope this piece brings as much grounding, protective energy to your space as I felt while designing him. He’s for anyone who walks bravely through the shadows knowing they are guided!
