Bring the calm beauty of moonlight to your altar with my 3D-printed Selene statue. I designed this piece with a tall crescent rising behind her, flowing classical robes, and an upward gaze that gives her a quiet, watchful presence.
I wanted the statue to feel elegant without becoming overly busy. The large crescent frames Selene like a lunar halo, while the smaller crescent on her robe and the triple moon carved into the base carry the moon theme through the entire design.
Versatile Display: Perfectly sized for pagan altars, Hellenic worship spaces, bookshelves, moon-themed rooms, or celestial decor.
The Lore & Symbolism
In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess and personification of the Moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and the sister of Helios, the Sun, and Eos, the Dawn. Selene was said to cross the night sky in a shining chariot, bringing moonlight to the sleeping world below.
The Crescent Halo: I placed a large crescent behind Selene to make her identity immediately recognizable. Its long, pointed shape frames her head and creates a strong silhouette from across the room.
The Triple Moon: The waxing crescent, full moon, and waning crescent are carved directly into the front of the base. They represent the changing lunar phases, natural cycles, intuition, and renewal.
Her Upward Gaze: I posed Selene looking toward the sky rather than directly forward. This gives her a more reflective expression, as though she is watching over the night.
The Flowing Robes: I gave her long, layered robes inspired by classical Greek sculpture. The deep folds add texture and movement while keeping the statue graceful and balanced.
The Hand Over Her Heart: Her raised hand gives the design a gentle, devotional feeling and helps separate this Selene from more dramatic or warrior-like goddess statues.
How It’s Made
I print each statue layer by layer using PLA bioplastic, a plant-based material commonly made from renewable resources such as cornstarch. Because every statue is individually 3D printed, you may notice subtle layer lines and small variations that make each piece unique.
Design Note: I created this Selene with a sturdy circular base and a connected crescent backdrop. The robes, arms, and lunar details stay close to the main figure, giving the statue a strong and unified design while still preserving the fine details.
Care Instructions
Temperature: Keep indoors and away from intense heat sources. PLA can soften or warp above 120°F/50°C, so please do not leave her in a hot car or directly against a sunny window.
Cleaning: Dust gently with a soft brush or microfiber cloth. If needed, spot clean with a barely damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
Whether you honor Selene in your spiritual practice, follow a Hellenic pagan path, work with lunar cycles, or simply love Greek mythology, I designed this statue to bring a peaceful piece of the night sky into your space.
